Directions for each page to represent the six program goals :
To create each page on your portfolio, you will begin by identifying the goal. Next, you will upload a product to demonstrate your ability to meet each indicator identified. All products submitted in your portfolio as evidence must be assignments that were completed in your courses during your program of study and represent original work created by you. For example, the goal for Planning, Instruction and Assessment is "Goal 3: Candidates demonstrate their understanding of planning, instruction, and assessment" and one of the indicators that is represented is "Indicator 1: Effectively develop curriculum and plan instruction utilizing state and national standards that critically examine the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline to make learning meaningful for students. " Next, in a paragraph provide a description of the artifact that is uploaded as evidence of your ability to meet the indicator. Repeat this procedure for each product uploaded. Two to three products should be uploaded for each goal. Finally, your reflection will be uploaded as an attached Word document file. A sample follows below.

The product used to represent this indicator is a 36 Week Curriculum Map I developed in CI 501.This map outlines one year of 7th grade mathematics that will teach all West Virginia CSO's, includes many of the 21st Century Learning Skills, and utilizes textbook instruction, units of study, PBL activities, and technology. Each activity is not written out, however the resources needed to find them are listed.
This map allows for each classroom teacher to adapt the material to meet the unique needs of their classroom - units listed (from WV Teach 21 website) provide specific lists of suggested activities, differentiation options and technologies used. Following this curriculum map will allow teachers to address various learning styles, use a broad range of instructional strategies and provides several authentic assessment opportunities. As a result of students having the opportunity to complete a full year of the curriculum, learning will be made meaningful for students as they are provided with a rigorous curriculum that critically examines the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline of Algebra.

My product for this indicator is an assessment plan I created in CI 623. The plan includes a diagnostic assessment, a pre-assessment, a formative assessment, a traditional pencil and paper summative assessment that includes both multiple choice and short answer questions and hits various levels of
Blooms, and an authentic assessment. The assessment is aligned with the West Virginia CSO’s of the unit it is a part of.
This assessment plan allows the teacher to see where the students are before the unit, how they progress
through the unit and what they have learned at the end of the unit. The formative assessment activity for the Powers of Ten is something I use every year, with students from 7th grade, 8th grade and algebra. The concept is difficult to understand and this chart is one of the ways I try to encourage students to discover
information about the powers of ten. Finally, the authentic assessment contains both group work and
independent work.It includes a rubric designed to let students know what is expected of them.
